in summer Araneus pentagrammicus (Araneidae) [Japanese name : ao oni-gumo]
It is a very beautiful spider, green in color. The abdomen is white or white-green and there are two blue patterns. As for its circular web, part of the web isn't existent, or is a free-sector web. The thread of the frame of the web is attached to a leaf and is tent-like, in which the spider hides. When prey is caught in the web, the spider dashes in one straight line from the tent. As for the thread of the web, its color changes to gold as time passes. The length is 9-11 mm. It is found on four main islands in Japan - namely, Honshu, Shikoku,
