in summer Philodromus auricomus (Philodromidae) [Japanese name : kin-iro ebi-gumo]
The spider runs about quickly on garden plants and on grass. In early spring, the spider hangs down with a drag-line, and going to pass one after another to the branches by the wind. There are two types - one with a golden, and another with a white abdomen. The photograph below is the white abdominal type. The length is 5-6 mm. It is found on the four main islands of Japan - namely, Hokkaido, Honshu, Shikoku, and Kyushu. |
