in summer Leucauge subgemmea (Tetragnathidae) [Japanese name : kirara shirokane-gumo]
The spider weaves a horizontal orb web in grass on woodland paths. The spider is usually hiding in the shade of a leaf outside the web in the daytime, although it remains in the hub of the web at nighttime and in dim places. When you catch one it's color changes from gold to brown, although the color of the surface of the body of it is golden. However, after for a while, it returns to its original color gold. The length is 7-9 mm. It is found on the four main islands of Japan - namely, Hokkaido, Honshu, Shikoku, and Kyushu. |
